Cameroon picks Africa’s last slot to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The Indomitable Lionness of Cameroon today defeated Mali 4 – 2 in the third-place match at the ongoing Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.

Cameroon dominated proceedings with 60% of ball possession as opposed to Mali’s 40%, and scores at halftime was 2 – 1 in their favour.

Abena opened the scoring for the Cameroonians following a beautiful run through the flank. The second goal came in no distant time through a well-laid cross from the left flank.

The Malians responded with a goal before the break. Cameroon sealed the deal in the second half with beautiful plays while the Malians also showed some flashes of brilliance.

With this scoreline, Cameroon has won the bronze medal and have become Africa’s third and final representative to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
