Ethiopian Airlines flight heading to Kenya crashes

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jet with flight number ET 302 has crashed six minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa en route to Nairobi.

The airline’s Group CEO Tewolde Gebremariam has confirmed that “there are no survivors”.  He expressed his profound sympathy and condolences to the families and loved ones of passengers and crew who lost their lives in this tragic accident.

There were 149 passengers and 8 crew members. All together, there were 33 nationalities on the flight with Kenya having the highest number of casualties.

Ethiopian Prime Minister’s office in a statement on Twitter said, “The office of the PM, on behalf of government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning.”
