Nigeria’s female football team, the Super Falcons were given a heroic welcome as they arrived in Brisbane, Australia. On July 16, some of the personnel and players from Nigeria joined their host as they danced traditional dances.
On Friday, July 21, Nigeria’s World Cup campaign will get underway when they take against Canada.
Then, four days after Canada, they’ll play Australia, and four days after Australia, they’ll play the Republic of Ireland.
The two sides will face off in the World Cup for the third time this year, with the West African team going undefeated in the first two meetings.
The hosts of the ninth FIFA Women’s World Cup are Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons have taken part in each of the previous six tournaments. The 1999 World Cup quarterfinal appearance is their finest performance to date.
